Cell membrane
regulates what goes in and out. Also has receptor molecules which allow it to respond to chemicals
Cell wall
made of cellulose and supports plant cell.
nuclear envelope
double membrane surrounding the nucleus separating it from the cytoplasm and protecting the DNA
Nuclear pore
protein lined envelope that regulates passage of molecules between nucleus and cytoplasm
Chromatin
a mixture of DNA and proteins that makes up chromosomes
Nucleolus
made up of RNA and proteins and is where ribosomes are made
Ribosomes
can float free or be attached to the rough endoplasmic reticulum. It’s made up of proteins and RNA
Rough endoplasmic reticulum
fluid surrounded by membranes that are covered with ribosomes. It folds and processes proteins that have been made in the ribosomes.
Smooth endoplasmic reticulum
Unlike the RER it has no ribosomes. It synthesis and processes lipids
Vesicles
a fluid sac in the cytoplasm that transports substances in and out the cell and between organelles.
Golgi apeparatus
group of flattened sacs that process and package new lipids and proteins. It also makes lysosomes
Mitochondrion
site of aerobic respiration where ATP is produced
Chloroplast
where photosynthesis occurs
Centrioles
micro tubules involved with separation of chromosomes during cell division
