Why do you wish to be an officer?
To make Corinth Holders DECA a competitive environment where students are active, involved, and genuinely want to win.
What is the greatest contribution you think you can make to DECA?
Strong marketing and social media skills, creativity to strengthen social media presence, and creating homework assignments for mentees.
Do you have a favorite slogan or saying?
“Be the energy you want to attract.”
What individual do you feel has had the greatest influence on your life and why?
My older sister, who showed me how to take initiative and stay determined through challenges as a first-generation college student.
Why is a “positive attitude” of importance to an officer?
It is Contagious. Optimism and Encouragement motivate participation.
Why should DECA be important to a Marketing Education student?
DECA brings real-world experiences to what we learn in class, helping students apply marketing concepts and build professional skills.
Why is a good first impression essential for an officer?
They shape how others see your leadership. Respect, professionalism, and approachability build trust and encourage participation.
Do you feel everyone has the same capacity for leadership? Why?
No—not everyone leads in the same way, but anyone can grow into a leader with the right support, mindset, and self-awareness.
What qualities do you feel you possess that would make you a good leader?
Observant, thoughtful, empathetic, consistent, and hardworking.
What does the statement, “Be a People Builder,” mean to you?
Helping others realize their strengths, encouraging their growth, and being someone others can count on for guidance and support.
What does the statement, “To serve rather than be served,” mean to you?
Leadership is about helping others succeed, not personal gain. A good leader puts the team’s needs before their own.
What is your favorite hobby? Why?
Graphic Designing. It is a creative outlet that helps express ideas visually.
What are your favorite sports? Why?
Badminton, played with my family in Connecticut.
What is the difference between Marketing Education and DECA?
Marketing Education is classroom-based, while DECA applies those skills in real scenarios through competition, networking, and leadership.
What is Marketing Education?
A program that teaches students about business, sales, advertising, entrepreneurship, and customer service.
Do students who complete the Marketing Education program really get better jobs?
Yes—students gain valuable experience, networking skills, and a strong résumé foundation.
What is marketing?
Understanding people’s needs and connecting them to the right products or services through communication, promotion, and value creation.
Friends are making negative comments about your busy DECA schedule. What do you do?
Have an honest conversation, explain why DECA matters, and reassure them that you still value the friendship.
Your new supervisor doesn’t support you attending CDC. What do you do?
Respectfully explain what DECA and CDC are, how it benefits education, and ask if you could compromise.
What significant contributions have you made to DECA?
Helped promote DECA by sharing multiple posts on personal Instagram.
Are you employed? What are your responsibilities?
Yes—I’m an intern for KoreaFest/InWave handling marketing tasks like content planning, audience engagement, and campaign organization.
What are your career goals?
Major in marketing and international business, and eventually work in the Asian entertainment or beauty industry.
What do you think should be the most important goal of DECA?
To empower students to become confident leaders and professionals by giving them the tools, experience, and support they need to succeed.
What leadership characteristics do you possess that would benefit NC DECA?
Organized, creative, and supportive. Focus on encouraging chapter participation by making DECA more engaging and accessible.
What other school and community activities do you participate in?
TSA, National Technical Honor Society, Vietnamese American Association, and KoreaFest.
Why should we nominate you for the office of _?
Because I’m dedicated to guiding the Corinth Holders DECA team to win at regionals, place at states, and maybe even make it to nationals.
Why are the others the better choice?
They bring their own strengths and experiences.
What’s the biggest lie you’ve ever told in a leadership position? Did it work?
I once said I was totally fine handling everything solo on a group project, but I was overwhelmed. Honesty and delegation are essential.
If someone you led was here today, what would they say they learned from you?
They’d say I helped them become more confident in their presentation skills and taught them how to think strategically.
Why should people respect you as a leader if they don’t personally like you?
Because I stay professional, treat everyone fairly, and always do what’s best for the team.
Tell me about a time everything was going wrong—how did you lead through it?
During a group project, nothing was on track, and members weren’t communicating. Stepped up to reset timeline, clarify roles, and boost morale.
Toxic but productive member—keep or let go?
Let them go. Toxicity affects the whole team’s morale and long-term success.
If your leadership style had to be explained using only noises, what would it sound like?
A calm but steady beat—like a rhythmic drum. Focused, consistent, and motivating without being overwhelming.
How will you approach team discussions for chapter improvement?
Come prepared with ideas and listen actively to others.
How can you contribute to officer meetings?
Bring a creative mindset, communication skills, and marketing experience.
What unique qualities do you possess that make you an asset?
My experience with social media, design, and PR gives me a strong edge in communication.
Share some ideas to improve our chapter.
Start a “Member of the Month” spotlight, create DECA TikToks to promote events, and host a mentorship program.
How can you counter negativity in our chapter?
By leading with positivity, checking in on members personally, and celebrating small wins.
How will you handle “I don’t want to do that” attitudes?
Try to understand their perspective and explain the value of participation.
