Although

À condition que…

On the condition that/ Provided that/ As long as

e.g. je viendrai à condition que tu sois là. (I will come provided that you are there.)

Pour que…

So that/ In order that

e.g. Elle chuchote pour que personne n'entende (She whispers so that nobody hears.)

Pourvu que…

Provided that/ Hopefully/ As long as

e.g. Pourvu qu'il fasse beau demain! (Hopefully it will be nice out tomorrow!)

Je t'aiderai pourvu que tu m' écoutes (I will help you provided that you listen to me.)

Je souhaite que…

I wish that/ I hope that

e.g. Nous souhaitons que tout se passe bien (We hope that everything goes well.)

Il faut que…

It’s necessary that

e.g. Il faut que je parte (I have to go)

Il vaut mieux que…

It is better that

e.g. Il vaut mieux que tu fasses tes devoirs avant de sortir (It is better that you do your homework before going out.)

J’aimerais mieux que…

I would prefer that/ I would rather that

e.g. J’aimerais mieux que tu viennes plus tôt." (I would prefer that you come earlier.)

Je désire que

I desire that

e.g. Je désire que tu viennes avec nous. (I want you to come with us.)

Je veux que

I want that

e.g. Je veux que tu viennes. (I want you to come.)

J’insiste pour que

I insist that

e.g. J'insiste pour que vous examiniez attentivement le dossier. (I insist that you examine the file carefully.)

Je suis content(e) que

I am happy that

e.g. Je suis content qu'il fasse beau aujourd'hui. (I am happy that the weather is nice today.)

Quoique

Although/even though

e.g. Quoiqu'il soit tard, je vais finir ce travail. (Even though it is late, I am going to finish this work.)
