Myringotomy
A surgical incision made into the tympanic membrane (eardrum) to relieve fluid pressure, drain pus or fluid from the middle ear, or reduce pain associated with chronic otitis media.
Tympanostomy Tube Insertion
The surgical placement of tiny ventilation tubes (grommets) into the tympanic membrane following a myringotomy to provide continuous aeration and prevent fluid re-accumulation in the middle ear.
Tympanoplasty
The surgical reconstruction or repair of a damaged or perforated tympanic membrane and/or middle ear ossicles to restore hearing function.
Stapedectomy
The surgical removal of part or all of the immobile stapes bone, followed by the insertion of a prosthetic device to restore sound wave transmission in patients with otosclerosis.
Mastoidectomy
The surgical removal of infected mastoid air cells within the mastoid process bone of the skull to treat severe mastoiditis or cholesteatoma.
Cochlear Implant Insertion
The surgical implantation of an electronic device that bypasses damaged inner ear structures (hair cells) to directly stimulate the auditory nerve, providing sound perception for individuals with severe to profound sensorineural deafness.
Cerumen Impaction Removal
The clinical removal of excessive, impacted earwax using specialized irrigation, manual instrumentation, or cerumenolytic drops.
Labyrinthectomy
The surgical removal or chemical destruction of the inner ear labyrinth, performed in severe, refractory cases of Ménière's disease to eliminate debilitating vertigo.
Adenoidectomy
The surgical removal of the adenoid glands located in the nasopharynx, often performed to reduce chronic Eustachian tube obstruction and recurrent middle ear infections in children.
