Hypothesis
A testable prediction based on observations, usually formulated as an if-then statement.
Independent Variable
The factor that is changed or manipulated in an experiment to observe its effect on the dependent variable.
Dependent Variable
The factor that is measured or observed in an experiment.
Constant
A variable that remains unchanged throughout an experiment. This helps see the effects of the independent variable.
Theory
A well-substantiated explanation of an aspect of the natural world
Gram
is the metric unit of mass.
Liter
A unit of volume in the metric system.
Meter
The basic unit of length in the metric system, commonly used to measure distance.
Control Group
A group in an experiment that doesn’t get the independent variable and is used for comparison
Placebo
A substance with no healing effect used as a control in testing new medicine.
Triple Beam Balance
A device used to measure mass with high precision by balancing an object against known masses on a three-beam scale.
Graduated Cylinder
A tool used to measure the volume of liquids accurately, typically marked with graduation lines for precise measurement.
Beaker
A cylindrical container used in laboratories for mixing, stirring, and heating liquids, typically with a spout for pouring.
Erlenmeyer Flask
A triangle lab flask with a bottle neck, used for mixing, heating, or storing liquids.
Bar Graph
A visual representation of data using rectangular bars, where the length of each bar is proportional to the value it represents, used for COMPARING different categories.
Line Graph
A graphical representation of data using points connected by lines, which shows trends OVER TIME.
Pie Chart
A circular graph divided into slices to illustrate numerical proportions, where each slice represents a category's PERCENT to the total.
Scatter Plot
A graphical representation of data that displays values for two variables as data points, used to observe relationships or correlations between the variables.
