Adolescence

Formal operational stage

Adolescent Brain Development
During puberty, the brain prunes away unused neurons and synapses; the frontal lobes are still forming, which affects impulse control.
Lawrence Kohlberg
A psychologist known for his theory on the levels of moral reasoning: preconventional, conventional, and postconventional.
Preconventional morality
Kohlberg's first level of moral reasoning, focused on self-interest and avoiding punishment.

Emerging adulthood
