Light
A form of energy. Different colors have different energies.
Low Energy Light
Associated with longer wavelengths.
High Energy Light
Associated with shorter wavelengths.
Continuous Spectrum
Each color is associated with a specific wavelength and energy amount.
Bohr's Atomic Model
Used the emission spectrum for hydrogen to help come up with his model of the atom.
Balmer Series
Visible Hydrogen line spectrum.
Ground State
The lowest energy level where electrons are normally found.
Excited State
Higher energy levels where electrons are excited when energy is absorbed.
Emission Spectrum
Light emitted as electrons drop back down to ground state.
Atomic Spectra
Vary because electrons gain and lose energy in specific quantities that correspond to energy levels.
