Tamizhaga Arasu Building Research Station
A research station that assesses the quality of civil and electrical construction materials through an Assessment Committee comprising technical experts from IIT, BIS, and Anna University.
Common Schedule of Rates
An annual schedule prepared after discussions with Government departments and contractor associations, issued with the concurrence of the Finance Department.
Quality Control Wing
A PWD wing operating through regional divisions in Chennai, Tiruchirappalli, Madurai, and Coimbatore to inspect ongoing works, perform material tests, and issue Quality Control Certificates.
Public Works Staff Training Institute
An institute located in Tiruchirappalli that conducts training sessions for PWD engineers, technical staff, and ministerial staff on modern construction technologies, software, RTI Act 2005, and Government policies.
Electrical Wing
A wing operating with 13 Electrical Divisions since 1968 that executes internal/external electrification and specialized electrical installations under the Electricity Act, 2003.
Directorate of Boilers
A PWD office responsible for inspecting, certifying, and registering boilers under the Boilers Act, 2025 and conducting examinations for Boiler Operation Engineers and Boiler Attendants.
