Genesis
The first book of the Bible that recounts God’s creation of the world, humanity, and the earliest events of salvation history.
Creation
God’s act of bringing the universe and all life into existence out of nothing.
Day 1 – Day and Night
God creates light, separates it from darkness, and names the light “day” and the darkness “night.”
Day 2 – Sky and Water
God forms the expanse (sky) to divide the waters above from the waters below.
Day 3 – Land, Sea, and Plants
God gathers the waters so dry land appears, calls the land “earth,” the gathered waters “seas,” and brings forth vegetation.
Day 4 – Sun, Moon, and Stars
God makes the greater light (sun) for the day, the lesser light (moon) for the night, and the stars to illuminate and mark seasons.
Day 5 – Birds and Fish
God fills the sea with living creatures and the sky with birds, blessing them to multiply.
Day 6 – Animals and Humans
God creates land animals and then human beings in His image and likeness, giving them dominion over the earth.
Day 7 – God Rests
God finishes His work, rests, blesses the seventh day, and makes it holy.
Image of God
The unique likeness to God bestowed on humans, enabling rationality, freedom, and capacity to love.
Adam and Eve
The first man and woman, created by God to live in harmony with Him and each other in Eden.
Special Gifts (Original Justice)
State of complete harmony, freedom from suffering and death, and being heirs to Heaven given to Adam and Eve before sin.
Forbidden Fruit
The fruit of the tree God commanded Adam and Eve not to eat; its consumption symbolized disobedience.
Devil (Serpent)
The fallen angel who tempted Adam and Eve to eat the forbidden fruit.
Fall of Man (Original Sin)
Humanity’s first act of disobedience that introduced suffering, death, and separation from God.
Eden
The paradise garden where Adam and Eve lived before the Fall.
Battle of Heaven
The angelic conflict in which Lucifer rebelled against God and was defeated by the faithful angels led by Michael.
Lucifer
The proud angel who refused to serve God, became Satan, and led other angels into rebellion.
Archangel Michael
Leader of the faithful angels who defeated Lucifer; protector of God’s people.
Fallen Angels (Demons)
Angels who followed Lucifer’s rebellion and were cast out of Heaven, now opposed to God.
Guardian Angel
An angel assigned by God to guide and protect each individual on the path to Heaven.
