Urban Geography
The study of how people use space in cities.
Suburbs
Political units touching the border of a central city or another suburb that touches the city.
Urbanization
The movement of people into cities.
Per Capita Income
Average amount of money earned by each person in a political unit.
Gross National Product (GNP)
The total value of all goods and services produced by a country over a year or some other specific period of time.
Gross Domestic Product (GDP)
Total value of all goods and services produced within a country in a given time period.
Infrastructure
The basic support systems needed to keep an economy going, including power, communications, transportation, water, sanitation, and education systems.
Natural Resources
Materials on or in the earth that have economic value.
Renewable Resources
Resources that can be replaced through natural processes, such as trees and seafood.
Non-renewable Resources
Resources that cannot be replaced once used, such as metals, gemstones, sulfur, natural gas, oil, and coal.
Inexhaustible Energy Sources
Resources that are the result of solar or planetary processes and are unlimited, such as sunlight, wind, and heat.
