Sa dan Colscaradh, (repeat question/statement)
In the poem Colscaradh, (repeat question/statement)
Tá tuiscintí agus dearcthaí difriúla acu.
They have different understandings and attitudes.
Is fear tradisiúnta é. Ba mhaith leis a bheith pósta agus ina chonaí lena bhean chéile agus a pháistí.
He is a traditional man. He would like to be married and live with his wife and children.
Ba mhaith leis go mbeadh chlann aige, agus ghlác sé leis go mbeadh an rud céanna ag teastail ón bhean.
He would like to have children, and he assumed the woman would want the same thing.
Níl suim ag an bhfear i laethanta saoire na daoine taobh amuigh da chlann féin.
The man is not interested in the holidays of people outside his own family.
Ach, tá an bean a mhalairt de seo. Is bean nua-aimseartha í.
But the woman is the opposite of this. She is a modern woman.
Ba mhaith leí a bheith pósta freisin, ach, tá dearcthaí an-difriúla aici ar an saol pósta.
She would like to be married as well, but, she has a very different outlook on married life.
Ba mhaith leí a bheith cothrom. Ba mhaith leí a roghanna féin a dhéanamh. Níl sí ag iarradh a bheith ina bean an tí.
She would like to be equal. She would like to make her own choices. She is not asking to be a housewife.
Chomh maith leis sin, ba mhaith leí a roghanna neamphspleachas agus a hairgead féin a bheith aici.
As well as this, she would like to have independence and her own money.
Leiríonn an dán na difríochtaí bhaineann le posadh idir fear tradisiúnta agus bean nua-aimseartha. Is leir ón meid atá scríofa agam go dáin “Colscaradh”.
The poem shows the differences in marriage between a traditional man and a modern women. It is clear from what I have written in the poem “Colscaradh”.
