What is newton's first law?
An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.
What is newton's second law?
The acceleration of an object is proportional to resultant force.
What is newton's third law?
For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.
What is a free body diagram?
It is a diagram that shows all the forces that act on an object.
What is momentum?
It is the product of mass and velocity on an object.
What happens to momentum in any interaction?
It is conserved.
What does the area of a force-time graph show?
Change of momentum.
What is impulse?
It is change in momentum.
What are the two types of collisions?
- Elastic
- Inelastic
What is an elastic collision?
This is where both momentum and kinetic energy are conserved.
What is an inelastic collision?
This is where only momentum is conserved.
What is it called when two objects stick together after a collision?
An inelastic collison.
What is an explosion?
It is an inelastic collision as kinetic energy after is greater than before.
