What happened with Britain and France during Napoleon’s ers in 1804?

Both nations attacked American ships that traded with their enemy. Many British sailors deserted their ships to avoid war and found work on American commercial vessels. The British would capture American ships with the intention of recovering Britsih sailors. Americans got caught by press gangs Approximately 10,000 soldiers were impressed (forced against their will into working) into British service. Most were Americans only 1,000 were British.

What did Britain and France do to American shipping?

They continued harassing them, seizing cargo and capturing sailors.

Britain issued the Orders in Council, what is it?

It required American ships trading with France to have a license from Britain to trade with France.

What is the Embargo Act of 1807?

Jefferson banned trade with France and England. This was a very unpopular law in the United States.
