Human sexuality
centered focusing on self-awareness of sexual feelings, thoughts, and behaviors; the way you behave, express, react, and interact.
Positive sexuality
The idea that one is worthy of love, acceptance, and understanding, including respect, safety, and freedom from discrimination and violence.
Sex
Biological characteristics of being male or female, evidenced by external and internal reproductive parts.
Gender
Your perceived or expressed identity shown through behavior and attitudes; includes classifications like LGBTQIA+.
SOGIE
Stands for Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, and Gender Expression.
Sexual Orientation
Who you are sexually or romantically attracted to; can be toward opposite sex, same sex, or both.
Gender Identity
How you identify yourself; the internal sense of one’s gender.
Gender Expression
How you present yourself to the world (masculine or feminine) through attire, looks, voice, body features, and interests.
Equality
A core value in building a healthy and positive sexuality, emphasizing equal rights and treatment.
Respect
A core value in building a healthy and positive sexuality, involving consideration for others.
Acceptance
A core value in building a healthy and positive sexuality, embracing diversity and differences.
Discrimination
Unfair treatment of people or groups based on age, disability, gender, race, religion, and more; examples include Ableism, Xenophobia, Homophobia, Sexism, Racism.
Stereotypes
Exaggerated, biased beliefs about people or groups based on nationality, gender, ethnicity, religion, or other traits.
Pathogen
A disease-causing microorganism such as viruses, bacteria, fungi, or parasites.
Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)
Infections transmitted through sexual contact, caused by pathogens (viruses, bacteria, fungi, parasites).
Abstinence
Choosing not to engage in sexual activity as a way to prevent STIs and unintended pregnancies.
Safe Sex
Practices to reduce the risk of STI transmission during sexual activity, including protective measures.
Monogamy
Having a single sexual partner.
Early Detection/Regular Check Up
Routine medical screening to detect STIs early and ensure timely treatment.
Striking and Fielding Games
