First strength
Rejects attempts to break up behaviour and experience into smaller components. Stating each approach and what they believe. Humanistic psychologists advocate holism - the idea the subjective experience can only be understood by considering the whole person. May have more validity than its alternatives by considering meaningful human behaviour within its real-word context
Second strength
The approach is optimistic. Have been praised for promoting a positive image of the human condition. Humanistic psychologists see all people as good, free to work towards the achievement of their potential and in control of their lives. Suggests that humanistic psychology offers a refreshing alternative to other approaches
One limitation
May be culturally biased. Many of the ideas would be associated with individualist cultures. In certain countries, the ideals of humanistic psychology may not be as important to others. It is possible that this approach doesn’t apply universally, is a product of the cultural context
