How is Salary defined?
A fixed regular payment, typically expressed as an annual sum, paid monthly or semi-monthly regardless of hours.
What is the definition of a Wage?
Monetary compensation paid by an employer to an employee in exchange for work done, usually based on hours worked.
What is Gross Pay?
The total amount an employee earns before any deductions such as taxes, insurance, or union dues are taken out.
What is Net Pay?
The amount an employee has left after paying deductions; also described as wages after taxes and other deductions.
Define Overtime.
Additional pay for hours worked beyond the standard 8 hours a day or 40 hours a week, usually at a higher rate.
What is Commission?
Income earned based on a percentage of sales, often used for sales professionals to incentivize performance.
How is Piecework compensation defined?
A system where workers are paid a fixed rate for each unit produced or action performed.
How do you calculate Gross Wage for an hourly employee?
Multiply the total hours worked by the hourly rate (Total Hours×Hourly Rate).
What was the result of Jane's calculation for working 38 hours at a rate of $22.50/hour?
38×22.50=$855.00
When is the 1.5x (Time and a Half) overtime rate typically applied?
To hours worked over 40 in a week or 8 in a day.
When is the 2.0x (Double Time) overtime rate typically applied?
To Sundays or Public Holidays.
What are Allowances in an employment context?
Additional payments made to employees to cover specific work-related expenses, such as Travel, Uniform, Meal, and Living allowances.
