1) Catchphrase + Overview
Your honor, this case is about motive, means, and opportunity.
Specifically, Logan Gold had a golden opportunity.
Today, the evidence will show that on November 11, 2023, a political rivalry in Emerald Bend took a sinister turn. In a deliberate and calculated attempt to eliminate competition in a fiercely contested mayoral race., Logan Gold orchestrated the abduction of Taylor Alexander, his wife Harper Dorais’s political opponent.
2) Transition - What we’ll do
The prosecution will present compelling testimony and forensic evidence to prove beyond any reasonable doubt- exactly what happened on that fateful morning.
3) Detective Riley Kim
First, Detective Riley Kim will walk you through the physical evidence that links Logan Gold to this crime.
The pillowcase used in the abduction? It bears the logo of a business owned by Logan Gold.
Not only that, but the blue docking ropes used to restrain the victim? We’ll show you a receipt from Logan Gold’s property for the purchase of these exact ropes.
4) Taylor Alexander P1 - Abduction
Next, you’ll hear Taylor Alexander’s account. You’ll hear how Alexander went for a morning run, a routine that the defendant specifically knew about. You’ll hear how he was forcibly kidnapped—how a pillowcase was thrown over his head, how he was drugged with multiple doses of doxylamine, and how he awoke in a shed, bound with blue docking ropes.
5) Taylor Alexander P2 - The Catchphrase
You’ll hear how his kidnapper told him how “Everything comes back around,” which just happens to be the famed catchphrase of Logan Gold. You’ll hear how Alexander’s resilience led him to escape and call for help, visibly shaken and bearing ligature marks consistent with the ropes found at the scene.
6) Taylor Alexander P3 - Aftereffects
You’ll hear the story of a victim, undeserving of this brutal kidnapping, leaving him so traumatized that he could not debate again-- likely leading him to lose the very election at the root of this conflict.
7) Dr. Rae Forrest
Then, Dr. Rae Forrest, the chief forensic investigator of Rowan County, will explain how the toxicology report confirmed levels of doxylamine in Alexander’s bloodstream that corroborate his account of events. The ligature marks on Alexander’s wrists slipknot that he was tied in would’ve been nearly impossible to undo on his lonesome. Forrest will testify how multiple aspects of the fresh tire tracks at the scene uniquely match Logan Gold’s car, ruling out any possibility of coincidence and proving that Gold was present at the scene of the crime.
8) Ali Sandoval
Finally, you’ll hear from journalist Ali Sandoval, who will testify that Gold arrived late to the debate, frazzled and out of breath, and exclaimed to his partner, Harper Dorais how “It’s all been taken care of.” Sandoval will detail Gold’s deep animosity toward Alexander and their unusually intense involvement in the campaign—evidence of motive and intent.
9) Evidence + affirmation + verdict
In this coming trial, the evidence will show beyond any reasonable doubt that Gold orchestrated this crime to silence Taylor Alexander and protect their own financial and political interests, ensuring a win for their partner.
Your honor, the evidence is clear- Logan Gold had a golden opportunity, but everything came back around.
At the end of this trial, we will ask you to return a verdict of guilty, because justice for Taylor Alexander and the people of Emerald Bend demands no less. Thank you.
