Natural disturbances and examples

-Can be greater than humans disturbances

Ex: tornadoes, hurricanes, asteroids

Periodic: occurs with regular frequency (dry-wet seasons)

Episode: occasional events with irregular frequency (hurricane, drought, fires)

Random: no regular frequency (volcanos, earthquakes, astroids)

Natural climate change and examples

Earths climate varies over geologic time for different reasons

Ex: slight changes in earths orbit and tilt causes mini ice ages and warmer periods

What does environment change cause?

-Habitat destruction

-major disturbance causes widespread of habitat changes or losses

Ex: rising sea level flood coastal and estuary (mixed fresh rivers with salt water, like the Chesapeake bay) habitats

How does natural disturbances cause migrations (causes, affects, examples)

-wildlife may migrate to new habitats due to natural disruptions

-they have lack of resources

Ex: wildebeests migrate to follow rain patterns of African savanna

Ex: oceans species move as the temperature gets warmer
