Volume (What Is)
How much space an object takes up
What is a prism and how to calculate
A prism is a solid with 2 congruent polygon bases and connected by rectangles.
They are named after the base shape
V prism = A base x h (area of the base times height)
Cylinder Volume
π r² h or π x r² x h
Pyramid Volume
V pyramid = 1/3 A base x h, The volume of a pyramid is equal to one-third the product of the base area and the height.
Cone volume
A cone is a pyramid with a circle base, so it’s
π r² h/3 or 1/3 πr²h (we use the formula for a circle’s area)
Triangular Prism Volume (remember prisms)
Remember the formula for all prisms
it’s (1/2 b h) x h
Sphere formula
V = 4/3 π r³
Pyramids
V = 1/3 base area x height. or 1/3 L² H (area of a square or l² x height/ 3)
Rectangular Prisms volume formula
Volume = length × width × height → be like (base area) × height
