The declaration of Independence

This Battle proved to the French that the colonies had a chance of winning the American Revolution. So, the French decide to help the colonist, in 1777.

Battle of saratoga

In 1775 they formed the continental army, as well as sending the Olive Branch petition of peace to King George, who refused the peace offering.

Second continental congress

George Washington directs a sneak attack the morning after Christmas. George Washington and his army take 900 prisoners. December, 1776.

Victory at Trenton

In 1783 Britain recognizes the 13 states as being independent. In addition the states get land as far west as the Mississippi.

Treaty of Pairs

The British are surrounded by the French and the Americans. The British surrender on October 19", 1781.

York Town

The Continental arm; stoots down bill towards the British. Even though the colonist lose the battle, they do very wel. The British luse 1,000 men and the colonist lose 400. June 1775.
