The branch of geography dealing with how human activity affects or is influenced by the earth's surface.

Cultural Landscape

The visible imprint of human activity and culture on the landscape.

Urbanization

The process by which cities grow, and higher percentages of the population come to live in urban areas.

Subsistence Agriculture

Farming in which the primary purpose is to feed oneself and one's family.

Commercial Agriculture

Agriculture undertaken primarily to generate products for sale off the farm.

Globalization

The process by which businesses or other organizations develop international influence or start operating on an international scale.

Migration

The movement of people from one place to another with the intentions of settling temporarily or permanently.

Population Density

A measurement of the number of people living per unit of area, usually calculated per square kilometer or mile.

Push and Pull Factors

Push factors are conditions that drive people to leave their home; pull factors are conditions that attract people to a new area.

Infrastructure

The basic physical and organizational structures and facilities needed for the operation of a society.
