Do you have any hobbies?
Yes. Music is probably my main hobby, and I also enjoy reading and playing video games with friends. They help me switch off after a busy day.
Do you play any indoor games?
Yes, mainly video games. I play them with friends from time to time because it's an easy way to relax after studying and stay connected with people.
Do you prefer indoor or outdoor activities?
Most days I prefer indoor activities because music, reading and gaming are easy ways to relax after university. But when I have enough time, I'd happily choose a trip somewhere close to nature.
Do you prefer paper books or e-books?
I prefer paper books. I spend so much time looking at screens for university that a physical book feels easier on my eyes, and I also find it more relaxing to read for a long time.
Do you prefer spending free time alone or with other people?
Usually alone, because I'm quite introverted and I enjoy reading or listening to music by myself. I still like spending time with close friends and family, especially at weekends.
Do you prefer staying in your current city or going back home at weekends?
If I have enough time, I definitely prefer going back home to Quang Nam. Staying in Da Nang is more convenient, but going home is much more relaxing for me.
Do you prefer to play indoor games or outdoor games?
It depends on my mood. I'm quite a homebody, so indoor games are convenient, but I also enjoy football and being outdoors when I have enough free time.
Do you spend more time with family at weekends?
Yes, especially when I can return to Quang Nam. During the week I'm usually in Da Nang for university, so weekends are one of the few chances I have to spend proper time with my family.
Has the way you read changed over time?
Yes. When I was younger, reading was mostly connected with school, whereas now I choose books for personal interest and self-development. I read with a clearer purpose these days, even if university leaves me less free time.
How important is leisure time for students?
I think it's very important because students need time to switch off and recharge after classes and deadlines. Without enough rest, it's easy to feel overwhelmed and lose concentration.
What do you usually do at weekends?
If I have enough time, I usually go back to Quang Nam. I have meals with my family, rest a bit, and sometimes cook or go fishing with my father and younger brother.
What do you usually do in your free time?
I usually listen to music, read or play games for a while. My free time is mainly a chance to take my mind off university work, and music is probably the quickest way for me to unwind.
What indoor games did you play when you were a child?
The strongest indoor activity I remember is playing with Lego rather than a traditional game. I was really into building things and could spend a long time creating different models.
What sorts of indoor games do children play now?
Video games are probably the most common. Children can play them on phones, tablets or computers, although too much screen time can become a problem if it replaces exercise or face-to-face interaction.
Who do you spend your weekends with?
Whenever I can go back to Quang Nam, I prefer spending the weekend with my family. If I have to stay in Da Nang, I normally use the weekend to study, rest or catch up on research.
Do you enjoy reading?
Yes, although I don't read as much as I'd like because university keeps me busy. I usually go for self-development, inspirational or life-skills books when I have some quiet time.
Do you like listening to music?
Absolutely. Music is probably my favourite hobby and one of the easiest ways for me to unwind after a long day at university. I usually listen in the evening when I get home, because it helps me switch off and relax.
Where do you usually listen to music?
Most of the time I listen in my room after I get back from university. I also listen occasionally when I'm travelling or waiting for something.
Can you play any musical instruments?
Not yet. If I had the time, I'd probably start with the guitar because it fits the pop music I enjoy and would let me play songs I already know. The main challenge would be practising consistently.
Is it harmful to spend too much time on a hobby?
Yes, if it starts taking over your life. Even a good hobby can become a problem if it makes you neglect your studies, sleep or time with family.
Is it important to have a hobby?
Definitely. I think hobbies give people a chance to switch off from study or work and recharge mentally. In my case, music helps me relax, reading gives me new ideas, and gaming lets me stay connected with friends.
Is there a new hobby you would like to try?
I'd like to try hiking or camping more seriously. I already enjoy mountains, forests and rivers, so a hobby that gets me outdoors and lets me spend more time in nature would suit me really well.
What kinds of books do you prefer?
I usually prefer self-development, inspirational and life-skills books. I like books that give me a useful idea or a different way of looking at everyday problems, rather than something purely academic.
What types of music do you like?
I listen to quite a wide range of music, but I have a soft spot for pop, especially K-pop and V-pop. I like catchy songs that are easy to listen to after studying.
What would your ideal weekend look like?
My ideal weekend would be pretty simple: going home to Quang Nam, having a relaxed family meal, and maybe cooking or fishing with my father and brother. I don't really need anything fancy.
What free-time activities would you like to try in the future?
I'd like to do more outdoor activities such as hiking or camping. I already enjoy mountains, forests and rivers, so spending more time in nature would suit me really well.
How do people spend their free time in your country?
It varies a lot, but I think social and digital activities are both very common. Many people go to cafés, meet friends, play sports or spend time with family, while others use social media, watch online videos or play games at home.
When do you usually listen to music?
Mostly when I'm studying less intensively, travelling, or trying to relax after a busy day. Music is probably my main hobby, so I use it as an easy way to switch off when I feel mentally tired.
What kind of music do you listen to most?
Music is probably my main hobby. I listen to pop, K-pop and V-pop, and Sơn Tùng M-TP is one singer I particularly admire for his effort and determination.
Why is music important to you?
Music is important mainly because it helps me relax and switch off after studying. For me, music is both entertainment and a simple way to reset mentally.
Why is Son Tung M-TP your favourite singer?
I enjoy his music, but what really stands out to me is his determination. He has built a distinctive style and kept improving over time, and I respect that work ethic.
Would you like to learn a musical instrument?
Yes, I think it would be enjoyable, although it isn't one of my immediate priorities. Music is already my main hobby, so being able to play an instrument would give me a different way to experience it instead of only listening.
If you could learn a musical instrument, what would it be?
I'd probably choose the guitar. I listen to a lot of pop music, so being able to play songs I already enjoy would be motivating. The only real obstacle is finding enough time to practise consistently.
Do you prefer watching films at home or in a cinema?
At home, definitely. It's more convenient, cheaper and easier to fit around my schedule. I'd only go to the cinema if there were a film I really wanted to see.
How often do you go to the cinema?
Not very often, to be honest. I don't get round to going to the cinema as much as some people because my free time is limited and music or YouTube are easier forms of entertainment for me.
How often do you watch films?
Not very often. Music and YouTube are much more common in my routine, so I normally watch a film only when I have a free evening.
What type of movies do you dislike?
I don't have one genre that I absolutely loathe. What puts me off is a film with a weak story that depends almost entirely on noise, violence or cheap surprises.
Can films teach people useful things?
Yes, definitely. Films can introduce people to historical events, social issues, different cultures and even ways of thinking that they might not encounter in everyday life.
What kinds of films do you enjoy?
I don't have one favourite genre. I mainly like films with a strong story and interesting characters, and I lose interest quickly if a movie depends only on action or cheap surprises.
Would you like to be in a film?
Honestly, it isn't something I've ever seriously considered. Even if I had the chance, I'd probably be more interested in seeing how the film was made than becoming an actor myself.
Have you watched much TV recently?
Not really. These days I watch much more content online than on traditional television. I tend to gravitate towards educational videos and news because I like using my free time to learn something new and keep myself informed.
Do you prefer television or online video platforms?
I'd take online platforms over traditional TV any day. It's much more convenient for my routine. I don't watch traditional television very much these days because most of the content I follow is online.
What sorts of TV programs do you watch?
Very few on traditional television. If I watch something informational, I'm much more likely to use YouTube or an online source because I can choose the exact topic I'm interested in.
What kind of TV programmes do you like most?
If I do watch something, I prefer programmes that teach me something, such as documentaries, science content or news. I'm quite curious by nature, so I enjoy content that broadens my horizons rather than programmes I watch just to pass the time.
Is watching TV a popular activity in your country?
I'd say it's still fairly common, but its role has changed. Older people may still watch traditional television regularly, while many younger people seem more inclined to use YouTube, streaming platforms or social media instead.
Did you often watch television when you were a child?
Yes, definitely more than I do now. As a child, television was a normal form of entertainment, whereas these days I get most of what I watch from YouTube and other online platforms.
What types of TV programmes are popular in your country?
I'd say there is still a fairly broad range, although people increasingly watch similar content online rather than only on television. News programmes, game shows and entertainment shows are easy examples, and dramas also have a large audience.
