Sistema Digestivo
A set of organs responsible for conducting food, digesting it, and absorbing its nutrients.
Digestive System
An open system in contact with the outside at both ends, divided into the digestive tract and accessory organs.
Tubo digestivo
Also known as the Gastrointestinal Tract (GIT).
Organos accesorios
Páncreas, hígado, and vías biliares are examples of this.
Funciones generales
Ingestion, motility, secretion, digestion, absorption, storage, and elimination.
Mucosa
Epithelium, connective tissue, and a muscular layer.
Submucosa
Connective tissue, glands, and lymphatic tissue.
Muscular externa
Can be skeletal or smooth muscle, depending on location.
Serosa
Connective tissue and epithelium.
Plexo de Meissner
Located in the submucosa.
Plexo de Auerbach
Also known as the myenteric plexus
