Visual experience that subconciously affects individual’s functions and emotions

Certain colors have been associated with physiological changes like increase in blood pressure, metabolism, and eyestrain

Determines how color affects us - though the meanings may change based on upbringing and cultural nuances
Biological reactions to colo stimulus
“Psychological component” from the natural effects of nature
We as humans have biological reaction to to certain color stimuli.
Unlearned reactions because they occu naturally
Ex. Leaves turn green because of bioloigcal process → photosynthesis
Collective unconscious
Personal experiences pertaining to color
As humans we have a collecive unconscious reaction to color. These are reactions we are hard wired for and have no conrol over the behavior
Ex. We all associate red with blood cross culturally and univerally. No one is ever taught because we ar hard wired for it
Basically reacting to color stimuli but without the culutral differences kase its born with us parang ganun

Ex. Red is associated as a traditional color for brides in many Asian countries while white is associated with Western ideas

Individual’s personal relationship to color that influences hoice for trends, fashion, and styles
We may also be influences b what is marketed to us through fashion, styles, and trends
ur personal relationship with color BUT may influence due to marketing, trends, etc. Like when everything went pink and black during the barbenheimer era

Three main types of colors
Primary, secondary, tertiary (tertiary colors my beloved)
The color wheel
Can be categorized into three main types of colors based on the combination of base colors used to create the final colors
Primary colors
Colors that cant be made with other colors.
Red, yellow, and blue (ALL MIGHT MENTION???)
Secondary colors
Colors made from mixing primary colors
(Ex. Green, purple, orange) (GREEN AND ORANGE BAKUDEKU MENTION????)
Intermediate or tertiary colors
Mixing both primary and secondary to make a hybrid.
Quaternary colors
Mix between intermediate, secondary, and primary colors
Monochromatic color scheme
Derived from single base hue and extended using shades, tones, and tints

Analogous color scheme
colors that are next to each other in the color wheen.
Create serence and comfortable designs
Ex. Red, orange, and yellow
Complementary colors
Colors across the color wheel
Ex. Yellow and blue (YELLOW AND BLUE? BYLER MENTION??)
Pink and green (PINK AND GREEN?? MATCHABLOSSOM MENTION??)
Split complementary colors
One dominant base color and two colors adjacent to its complement
Forms a narrow triangle in the color wheel
Triadic colors
Made of three qually spaced colors around the color wheel
Ex. Iona’s pony sona → orange, green, and purple
Tetradic colors/double complementary colors
Two pairs of complementary colors
Forms a square or a rectangle in the color wheel
Ex. Magenta, orange, green, and blue → scooby doo gang
Color temp
Warm, cool, and neutral
Texture
Used to represnt how an objet appears or feels
Sculptors and archis can create texture in a 3d work by manipulation the surfae texture of a piece
Physical textures
Tactile texture that you can feel when you touch it
Ex. Soft, hard, smooth, rough
Visual texture
Art on a 2d surface like by painters or draftsmen
Creating a visua texture of their work by manipulating materials on their canvas
Sfumato technique
One used by leo da vinci (like the turtle??)
Gives the impression of smooth texture esp when skin is depicted
Different paint colors or tones are blended iwht one another in such a way that it produces a smoothed or softened effect. Often described as blurred too
Impasto
Rather than accurately copying the appearance, many artists use texture to show show their technique and express emotion
Applying thick areas of paint on a canvas → allows you to see the individua brushstrokes the artist has used
