What are the Levels of organisation?(smallest to largest)
Cell → Tissue → Organ → Organ System → Organism
How does a cell become part of an organism?
Cells group to form tissues → Tissues form organs → Organs work together in organ systems → Organ systems make up an organism.
What is the Golgi bodies role?
The Golgi body processes molecules for secretion and intracellular use. It modifies, sorts, and packages proteins and lipids for storage or transport out of the cell.
What is the Golgi apparatus
curved, stack-like shape near the cell membrane found in eukaryotic cells
What is the ER and the two different kinds?
The ER is a network of membranes near the nucleus. Rough ER and Smooth ER.
Rough ER vs Smooth ER
Rough ER: has ribosomes, helps make and transport proteins.
Smooth ER: no ribosomes, synthesises lipids and detoxifies chemicals.
What is the Mitochondria?
Produces energy (ATP) via cellular respiration
What cell organelle breaks down waste?
Lysosome
What organelle packages and forms vesicles?
Golgi apparatus
What are the features of a prokaryotic cell?
It is a small bacterial cell with no nucleus or membrane-bound organelles.
What are the features of a Eukaryotic cell?
Is a large plant/animal/fungi cell that has a nucleus and membrane-bound organelles.
