1^st Amendment

• Freedom of Religion

• Freedom of Speech

• Freedom of the Press

• Right to “peaceably assemble”

• Right to Petition the government

2^nd Amendment

To protect ourselves from the government, we have the right to  own and keep guns

3^rd Amendment

• Government cannot force citizens to house soldiers in time of peace

4^th Amendment

• Right to Privacy; no unlawful search and seizure

• Officers must have a warrant to enter your property

• Must have probable cause/evidence to get the warrant

5^th Amendment

• A grand jury evaluates evidence and decides if a person should be charged with a crime

• No “double jeopardy”- cannot be charged for the same crime twice

• Right to remain silent

• Right to due process

6^th Amendment

• You must be formally charged

• Right to a speedy trial by jury

• Right to an attorney

• Right to confront your accusers

8^th Amendment

• Bail must be reasonable

• No cruel or unusual punishment
