what is the Kidney structure and function
Made up of millions of filtering units called nephrons. The main function of the kidney is to filter your blood and remove wastes
What is the structure and function of the Ureters
a tubular structure that connects the kidneys to the urinary bladder to transport urine
What is the structure and function of the bladder
Triangle shaped organ in the lower abdomen that holds urine. Contracts to release urine through the urethra
What is the structure and function of the Urethra
A tube that lets the urine leave the body
What are the physical properties of urine
specific gravity, absorbance, volume, color, clarity, odor, water content
What are the chemical properties of urine
pH, urea, creatinine, ammonia, uric acid, hippuric acid, urobilin, bilirubin, carbs, ketone bodies, lipids, amino acids
What components are normal and abnormal in the urine
You should have little to no protein in your urine. The most normal component is water accounting about 95% of the urine.
What is the relationship between volume of urine and physical characteristics (absorbance and specific gravity)
When the volume of urine increases, absorbance decreases. When the volume of urine increases, specific gravity decreases.
