Confidence Interval
An interval estimate of a population parameter that is likely to contain the actual parameter value with a specified level of confidence.
Critical Value
A point in a statistical distribution that is used to define the boundaries of a confidence interval.
Random Condition
The condition that requires sample data to be collected using a random sampling method.
10% Condition
A condition stating that the sample size should be less than 10% of the total population when sampling without replacement.
Normal/Large Sample Condition
The condition that requires either a normally distributed population or a sample size of 30 or more for using t-distribution.
One-Sample t Interval
A confidence interval for a single population mean when the population standard deviation is unknown, using the t-distribution.
t-distribution
A type of probability distribution that is used in statistics for estimating population parameters when the sample size is small and/or the population standard deviation is unknown.
Degrees of Freedom (df)
A parameter used in various statistical tests that represents the number of values in the final calculation of a statistic that are free to vary.
Margin of Error
The maximum amount by which the sample estimate may differ from the true population parameter.
Standard Deviation of the Statistic
A measure of the amount of variation or dispersion of a set of values, regarding the sample mean.
One-Sample Z Interval
A confidence interval for a population mean when the population standard deviation is known, using the z-distribution.
Estimation of Population Mean (µ)
The process of using sample data to calculate an interval that likely contains the true mean of a population.
Sample Size Determination
The process of calculating the number of observations required to achieve a specific confidence level and margin of error.
Boxplot
A graphical representation that shows the distribution of a dataset through its quartiles.
Histogram
A graphical representation of the distribution of numerical data, showing frequency counts for intervals.
Stemplot
A tool for displaying quantitative data in an organized manner, separating each value into a stem (leading digits) and leaf (trailing digits).
