Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC)
The process of coordinating all promotional tools and communication channels to deliver a consistent and persuasive message to target customers.
Promotion Mix
Consists of five major communication tools: advertising, sales promotion, public relations, personal selling, and direct and digital marketing.
Advertising
Paid communication through mass media, mainly used to create awareness.
Sales Promotion
Short-term incentives designed to encourage immediate purchases.
Public Relations
Activities used to build positive relationships and credibility with stakeholders.
Personal Selling
Direct interaction between salespeople and customers to develop relationships.
Direct Marketing
Personalized communication with individual customers.
Digital Marketing
Online communication through websites and social media, enabling more personalized customer interaction.
Product
Anything offered to a market to satisfy a customer's need or want, including tangible goods, services, or a combination of both.
Services (Characteristics)
Offerings that differ from physical products because they are intangible, inseparable, variable, and perishable.
Customer Experience
The customer's overall interaction before, during, and after the purchase.
Customer Value
The benefits received compared with the total costs incurred.
Core Product
The main benefit the customer is seeking.
Actual Product
The product level that includes quality, features, design, branding, and other physical characteristics.
Augmented Product
The product level that includes additional services such as warranties, maintenance, product support, and after-sales service.
Consumer Products
Products purchased for personal use; categorized into convenience, shopping, specialty, and unsought products.
Business Products
Products purchased to support organizational operations or production; categorized into materials and parts, capital items, and supplies and business services.
Convenience Products
Consumer products that are frequently purchased with little effort.
Shopping Products
Consumer products that customers compare before purchasing.
Specialty Products
Consumer products that are unique and have strong brand preference.
Unsought Products
Consumer products that customers rarely consider until they are needed.
Materials and Parts
Business products used in manufacturing finished goods.
Capital Items
Business products that serve as long-term production equipment.
Supplies and Business Services
Business items and services that support everyday operations.
Customer Value-Based Pricing
Setting prices according to the value customers perceive rather than using production costs as the basis.
Good-Value Pricing
Offering the right combination of quality and affordability.
Value-Added Pricing
Adding services or features instead of simply reducing prices.
Premium Pricing
Charging higher prices for superior quality or prestige.
Marketing Channels
Networks of organizations and individuals work together to move products and services from producers to final customers.
Direct Marketing Channel
A channel structure where the producer sells directly to customers without intermediaries.
Indirect Marketing Channel
A channel structure where products move from producers to customers through intermediaries such as wholesalers and retailers.
Wholesalers
Intermediaries who purchase products in bulk and sell them to retailers.
Retailers
Intermediaries who sell products directly to final consumers.
Agents and Brokers
Intermediaries who facilitate transactions between buyers and sellers without taking ownership of the products.
Vertical Marketing System (VMS)
A coordinated system where producers, wholesalers, and retailers operate together.
