Cell
The basic unit of all living things.
Wet mount
A temporary slide prepared by placing a specimen in a drop of distilled water on a glass slide and covering it with a cover slip.
Irrigation technique
A staining technique where a drop of iodine solution is added to one side of the cover slip and filter paper is placed at the opposite end to draw the solution across the specimen.
Cover slip placement angle
The 45∙ angle at which a cover slip is held against a glass slide before slowly pressing it down to prevent trapped air bubbles.
Air bubble removal
The method of gently tapping a cover slip with the tip of a sharp pencil to clear air bubbles trapped underneath.
