The attribute indicating the Church belongs to Christ and possesses the means of sanctification, even though her members still need conversion.

Apostolic (Mark of the Church)

The attribute indicating the Church is founded on the original Apostles and continues their teaching and mission through succession.

Pope

The Bishop of Rome and successor of Saint Peter, who serves the unity of the universal Church.

Bishop

A successor of the Apostles who teaches, sanctifies, and governs a local Church.

Parish

A particular Catholic community entrusted to the care of a pastor.

Saint

A person who lived in faithfulness to God and now shares eternal life with Him.

Holiness

Life in communion with God and conformity to His love.

Communion of Saints

The spiritual union of all the faithful in Christ, including the Church on earth, the souls being purified, and the blessed in Heaven.

Patron Saint

A holy person chosen as a heavenly protector and model for a person, parish, occupation, place, or group.

Apparition

A reported appearance of Mary or a holy person to particular individuals, subject to ecclesiastical discernment.

Heaven

Eternal life and perfect communion with God, the angels, Mary, and all the blessed.

Hell

Eternal separation from God through definitive rejection of His love.

Purgatory

A state of final purification after death for those who die in God's grace and friendship, but still need cleansing before entering Heaven.
