The government is faced with the challenge / struggle / difficulty of giving people the chance to lead satisfying lives

정부는 사람들에게 만족하는 삶을 사는 기회를 제공해야 하는 어려움에 직면해 있다.

Although some think that the government’s intervention in lifestyles is necessary, I would urge officials not to intrude / invade upon people’s privacy

비록 어떤 사람들은 우리의 생활 방식에 정부의 개입이 필요하다고 생각하지만, 나는 정부 관리들이 사람들의 사생활을 침범해서는 안된다고 강력히 권고한다

There is an opinion that the government should maintain or create a society in which / where we can both prosper / thrive/ flourish and live peacefully

정부는 우리가 번영하고 평화롭게 살 수 있는 사회를 유지하거나 만들어야 한다는 주장이 있다

This is because we elect politicians , and therefore we should not be surprised when they come up with policies that have an effect on our lifestyles

이것은 우리가 정치가들을 선출하기 때문이고 그러므로 그들이 우리의 생활 방식에 영향을 미치는 정책들을 제시할 때 우리는 놀라서는 안된다

For example, by forcing to pay taxes, the government can allocate resources where we needed

They might also prohibit or restrict the use of certain products because they are considered unhealthy for society

It is controversial issue, but many people do support laws that curb the use of certain drugs

But the line needs to be drawn somewhere, as an increasing number of us are growing restless over the thought of government control in our lives

그러나 점점 더 많은 사람들은 우리의 삶에 있어 정부의 통제라는 생각 자체에 대해 커지는 불안감이 있기 때문에, 어딘가에는 한계를 정해야 할 필요가 있다

Widely-published scandals involving Internet spying have fulled the idea that we need to be more wary / watchful than ever of the government’s role

인터넷 감시를 포함해 널리 퍼진 스캔들은 정부의 역할에 대해 전보다 더 눈여겨 보아야 한다는 생각을 부채질 해 왔다

The continuing improvement of technology is allowing the state to further invade / intrude/ infringe on our privacy

지속적인 기술 향상은 정부가 우리의 사생활을 더욱 더 침해하는 것을 가능하게 하고 있다

Also, the public could lose a sense of basic freedom if legal habits like smoking come under official control

또한 만약 흡연과 같은 합법적인 습관들이 정부의 통제를 받는다면, 대중들은 기본적 자유권을 잃을 수 있다

Although the government deciding who can smoke where may lead to overall / whole public health benefits

비록 정부가 누가 어디에서 흡연할 수 있는지 결정하는 것은 전반적으로 국민 건강에 이점을 가져올 수 있지만,

smokers might complain that they cannot feel free when they are prevented from smoking even in some outdoor areas.

흡연자들은 일부 야외 공간에서조차 담배를 피우지 못하게 될 때 자유를 느끼지 못하는 것을 불평할지도 모른다

In conclusion, there are convincing arguments both for and against intervention by the government in our lives,

결론적으로, 우리의 삶에 정부가 개입하는 것에 대한 찬성과 반대를 하는 설득력 있는 주장이 있지만,

but I am convinced that we should be able to make our own choices about how we live as long as others are not directly harmed.

나는 다름 사람들이 직접적으로 피해를 받지 않는 한, 우리가 어떻게 살아갈 지에 대해 우리 스스로 선택 할 수 있어야 한다고 확신한다
