ADH
Made in the hypothalamus, stored in the posterior pituitary, function is to increase water absorption by the kidneys.
Oxytocin
Made in the hypothalamus, stored in the posterior pituitary, functions is to stimulate uterus contractions, release breast milk, stimulates secretionsfrom male and female sex hormones.
Growth Hormone
Made/Stored in anterior pituitary, stimulated growth of cells by making nutrients available to the cells.
Prolactin
Made/stored in anterior pituitary, stimulates milk production by the breasts.
Melanocyte Stimulins
Made/stored in the anterior pituitary, stimulates the production of melanocytes which increases skin pigmentation.
TSH
Made/stored in the anterior pituitary, stimulates the release of T3 and T4 hormones in the thyroid.
ACTH
Made/stored in the anterior pituitary, stimulated the release of glucocorticoids in the adrenal complex.
FSH
Made/stored in the anterior pituitary, stimulates the gonads by stimulating estrogen production, sperm development, egg development, and ovarian follicle development.
LH
Made/stored in the anterior pituitary, stimulates the gonads by stimulating testosterone production, progesterone production, and ovulation.
Thyroxine T4 and Triiodothyronine T3
Made/stored in the thyroid glands, increases rate of metabolic reactions and thus increase energy production.
Calcitonin
Made/stored in the thyroid gland, decreases blood calcium levels by stimulating bone formation and inhibiting absorption of calcium through digestive tract.
Parathyroid hormone
Made/stored in the parathyroid gland, increases the blood calcium levels by stimulating bone destruction and increasing absorption of calcium by the digestive tract.
Epinephrine
Made/stored in the adrenal medulla that stimulated a rapid, body wide sympathetic nervous system reaction and decreased digestion.
Mineralocorticoids (aldosterone)
Made/stored in the adrenal cortex, causes kidneys to increase NaCl absorption (thus water) and causes kidneys to increase potassium and hydrogen ion secretion.
Glucocorticoids (cortisol)
Made/stored in the adrenal cortex, helps body combat against stress by increasing blood glucose, and has anti inflammatory effects.
Estrogen
Made/stored in the ovaries for girls and testes for males, development of female reproductive organs, development and maintenance of uterine lining, female secondary sex characteristics, development of breast tissue, and normal sperm production.
Progesterone
Made/stored in the ovaries which supports and contracts the uterine lining during pregnancy while also helping with breast tissue development.
Testosterone
Made/stored in testes for males and adrenal cortex for females, development and maintenance of males reproductive organs, male secondary sex characteristics, and libido.
Inhibin
Made/stored in the testes in males and ovaries for females, prevents FSH secretion when adequate sperm are presents in male organs or when corpus luteum is in place for females.
Thymosin and Thymopoietin
Made/stored in the thymus, development of T cells and B cells in the thymus.
