May assist emergency units through radio communication or by dispatching medical professionals to the scene.

Emergency/disaster management

Coordinates multi-agency emergency and disaster response.

Law enforcement

May assist with scene security, traffic and crowd control, firefighter protection, fire investigation, and explosives disposal.

Utility companies

May assist by shutting off natural gas lines, electricity, and public water mains.

Public works

Typically oversees construction and maintenance of public roads, buildings, and sewers.

Hydrant management

Utility companies or public works departments may manage and test hydrants.

Media

Can alert the public about traffic incidents, evacuations, fire department activities, and fire/life safety information.
