  1. It was a virgin birth. This is significant because it shows the omnipotence of God.

  2. It is also the incarnation. This is significant because it is the first time Jesus came to Earth.

Jesus’ birth is different to normal humans as Mary was a Virgin, Mary accepts her role and is made pregnant through the Holy Spirit.

  • He could perform miracles.

  • For example the miracle of the Virgin Birth - this shows that Jesus is divine because it is impossible to be born of a virgin.

  • The Resurrection of Jesus - this shows that Jesus is divine because humans can’t resurrect.

messages to his followers, for example:

  • “The Parable of the Lost Son” which taught to forgive, even when it is difficult

  • “The Sermon on the Mount” which taught to follow the Spirit, not the letter of the law

Some argue that Jesus was a political leader and liberator of the oppressed because of his interactions with those deemed lesser in society, for example:

  • Jesus heals a sick woman. This shows him being a leader because he ignored sociatal norms.

  • Made him accessible to humans

  • Jesus/God now understands what it is like to be human

  • God is the great creator of the world but he is also willing to be humbled out of love for the people he has created.
