Personal Development or Self-development
It is the process of discovering oneself by recognizing and realizing one's potential and capabilities. This growth takes shape over time, either through formal education or by the influence of environmental factors, etc.
Rene Descartes' quote
A person's existence relies on their perception, as the mind is the seed of consciousness.
SELF-IMAGE
It is how you see yourself.
SELF-ESTEEM
It is how you value yourself.
IDEAL SELF
It is what you wish for yourself that will be.
ACTUAL SELF
It is the reality of yourself.
Sigmund Freud
He is a well-known psychologist neurologist and the creator of psychoanalysis theory and the father of psychoanalysis, proposed that there are three components of personality namely Id, Superego and Ego
Oral Stage
Birth to 1 year, erogenous zone is focused on the MOUTH.
Anal Stage
1 year to 3 years, erogenous zone is focused on the ANUS.
Phallic Stage
3 years to 6 years, erogenous zone is GENITALS.
Latent Stage
6 years to Puberty ,No further psychosexual development occurs (latent means hidden).
Genital Stage
Puberty to Adulthood, The desire re-emerges and is directed towards peers of the other sex, marking the onset of mature adult sexuality.
Oral Stage Fixation
A child who is underfed or frustrated during feedings might become a pessimistic, envious, and suspicious adult. a child who is overfed or overly gratified could become optimistic, gullible, and full of admiration.
Anal-retentive personality
Early or harsh potty training can lead to the child becoming an anal-retentive personality who hates mess, is obsessively tidy, punctual, respectful of authority, stubborn and tight-fisted with their cash and possessions.
Anal Stage Fixation
The anal-expulsive personality underwent a liberal toilet-training regime during the anal stage. In adulthood, the anal expulsive is the person who wants to share things with you. They like giving things away. An anal-expulsive personality is also messy, disorganized, and rebellious.
Phallic Stage Fixation
Unresolved conflicts during this stage could potentially lead to future issues such as sexual dysfunction, problems with gender identity, or difficulties in forming relationships, overly vain, exhibitionistic, and sexually aggressive.
Latent Stage Fixation
If a child fails to make strong social connections or falls behind academically during this stage, they may struggle with feelings of inadequacy, insecurity, and social isolation in adulthood. They might feel less competent than their peers, leading to insecurity or inadequacy.
Genital Stage Fixation
Fixation and conflict may prevent this with the consequence that sexual perversions may develop. For example, fixation at the oral stage may result in a person gaining sexual pleasure primarily from kissing and oral sex, rather than sexual intercourse.
