Origin of the Tibia
Known as the shinbone, is the larger of the two bones in the lower leg. Biggest bone.
Function of the Tibia
Bears the most weight (walking, running, standing) and provides attachment in muscles.
The Tibia forms what two major joints
Knee joint and Ankle joint. These joints allow for movement/range of motion and stability in the lower leg.
Know about the lateral fibula
Smaller of the two bones in the lower leg, located on the outer side of the tibia (shinbone). Not part of the tibia, no weight. Plays a crucial role in stabilizing the ankle joint and provides attachment points for several muscles
Structure of the lateral fibula
Head- proximal end of the fibula, slightly enlarged and rounded, forms the proximal tibiofibular joint.

Neck: A narrow region just below the head
Shaft: The long, cylindrical portion of the fibula that extends down the length of the bone. Three surfaces and three boarders
Lateral Malleolus: Distal end of the fibula, forming the outer bump of the ankle. It articulates with the talus bone and provides stability to the ankle joint.
Know about the structure of the patella
Also known as the kneecap, is a unique bone in the body. Classified as a sesamoid bone (floating bone). Develops within a tendon (ridges in middle)

Triangular shape- patella has a distinct triangular shape
Anterior surface: The surface is rough and provides attachment points for the quadriceps tendon and patellar ligament.
Posterior surface: This surface is smooth and divided into two articular facets for the femur.
