Mayan Political Structure
City states ruled by kings, kings claimed to be descendants of gods, no central government.
Aztec Political Structure
City states grouped into provinces, emperor in charge (divine representative of gods), used tribute for control.
Inca Political Structure
Split into four provinces, each with governor and bureaucracy, provinces linked by roads, used mita system.
Quipu
System of knotted strings for numeric records used by the Inca.
Aztec Tribute System
Capital collects crops, sacrifices, etc. from provinces and redistributes it as needed.
Mita System
Mandatory public service in the Inca Empire.

Belief that anything can have a spirit/soul.
Pochteca
Special merchants trading luxury goods in Aztec society.
Griots/Griottes
Historians and storytellers in African societies.
Feudalism
System with kings, lords, knights, and serfs.
