Potassium permanganate (KMnO₄) or Potassium dichromate (K₂Cr₂O₇)
if the oxidant is limited then the reaction will produce an aldehyde
If oxidant in excess oxidation goes to completion producong a carboxylic acid → COOH
Oxidation of secondary alchols
If a secondary alcohol is oxidised by Potassium permanganate (KMnO₄) or Potassium dichromate (K₂Cr₂O₇)
turn into ketone
Oxidation of Teritiary alchols
have no reaction
Combustion of organic compounds
Alkanes, alkenes, alcohols, aldehydes and ketones produce CO2 + H2O
