The Scientific Method
A series of steps used to answer a smart questions about the natural world.

Observation
When you notice something with your senses
the 5 senses: see, hear, smell, touch, taste

Data/ results
What you record once you finish the experiment.

Reasearch
Learning more about the topic by gathering information through observation, books magazines, internet, or experts.

Hypothesis
An educated guess that explains an observation or scientific problem that can be tested, usually written as an "If...then" statement.

Experiment
An investigation that tests the hypothesis under controlled conditions.

Procedures
the steps you use to complete an experiment.

Model
Something that represents or stands for a real object.
Independent Variable
The one variable that a scientist changed in the experiment.

Dependent Variable
The results of the experiment. It answers what happens when the independent variable is changed.

Controlled Variable/ constant
All the variables that always stay the same in order for an experiment to be fair.

Conclusion
The results of the experiment. Check the hypothesis by analyzing the collected data.
Materials
all of the things you need to perform an experiment.

Purpose
Why you are doing the experiment.
