Compensatory Treatment -Guidelines include
1. avoid/limit exposure of involved body part to hot, cold and sharp objects
2. distribute forces evenly when using tools or objects by enlarging the handle
3. take regular rest breaks
4. use vision to guide movement and observe positioning of body parts
5. check skin for signs of stress (redness, edema, warmth) from excessive force or repetitive pressure and rest the area if these signs appear
6. perform skin care as recommended by physician to help keep skin soft/pliant
- Peripheral nerve injury (PNI) sensory change
may affect different parts of the nerve (cell body, myelin sheath, axons, or neuromuscular junction)
special sensory systems:
Visual (eyes) Auditory (ears) Olfactory (nose) Gustatory (mouth) Vestibular (balance)
