a secret message sent by Germany to Mexico, proposing a military alliance against the United States
Great Migration
mass movement of African Americans from the South to the North to escape racism and find jobs in northern cities
Rationing
when the government limited the amount of certain goods people could buy to make sure there was enough for everyone, especially soldiers fighting in the war
War Bonds
loans to the government that would be repaid with interest after the war
Imperialism
policy of extending authority over foreign countries by acquisition or influence/ when a country takes over new lands or countries and makes them subject to their rule
