Define Warm up
activities undertaken at the beginning of a training session that are designed to prepare the body for the conditioning phase of the training session
What are the phases of a warm up? (+example)
general phase, moderate intensity cardio eg. 5-10 min jog. dynamic phase, eg, dynamic stretching. sport-specific activity, activities involving agility, speed and sport-specific skills eg. criss cross hand ball drill

increased blood flow, increased HR, increase muscle enzyme activity, increased RR, increased oxygen availability, enhanced neural pathways, enhanced psychological readiness
What is Skill Development phase? (+ example)
activities designed to develop and practice skills, game plans, tactics and strategies eg. training drills
What is Fitness Conditioning phase? (+ example)
focuses on the development and maintenance of the specific fitness components, muscle groups and energy systems required for a sport eg. sprint work, strength training, aerobic running
Define Cool Down
low-intensity activity completed at the end of an exercise that allows the body to recover by maintaining an elevated blood flow to the muscles and preventing venous pooling, returning the body to its resting physiological state

gather info about an athletes physiological, psychological and sociological influences, increase motivation, improve goal setting, track progress, provide feedback to coach, apply progressive overload
