Absorbs and secretes mucus & enzymes; found in the ciliated tissue of bronchi.

Pseudostratified Columnar Epithelium

Secretes mucus and has ciliated tissue that moves mucus.

Stratified Squamous Epithelium

Protects against abrasion; found in the esophagus, mouth, and vagina.

Transitional Epithelium

Allows urinary organs to expand and stretch, found in the bladder and urethra.

Cilia

Cell structures that allow movement on the surface of tissues.

Microvilli

Cell structures that increase surface area for absorption, found in the small intestine.

Tight Junction

Seals neighboring cells together in an epithelial sheet to prevent leakage.

Desmosome

Joins intermediate filaments in one cell to those in a neighboring cell.

Exocrine Gland

Glands that produce chemicals secreted to a lumen, such as on the skin surface.

Endocrine Gland

Glands that secrete hormones directly into the blood.

Goblet Cell

A unicellular exocrine gland that secretes mucus.

Connective Tissue

Tissue that forms connections between other tissues and provides support, with more matrix and fewer cells.

Dense Irregular Connective Tissue

Connective tissue that is unorganized and good at resisting forces from different directions.

Skeletal Muscle

Muscle attached to the skeletal system, allowing for movement.

Cardiac Muscle

Muscle found in the heart.
