Why are we subsidizing Fossil Fuels?
To allow fossil fuel companies to continue to operate while still making a profit. The government gives them a “free-pass” so to speak in tax breaks.
Why are marine protected areas important?
Because they allow an ecosystem to replenish its depleted resources and return to their natural stability.
-Protecting these ecosystems from overfishing increases biodiversity!
-Further preventing trophic cascades, the predator- prey relationships.
What potential do high seas present in protecting biodiversity for the entire ocean?
If the high seas were turned into the world’s largest nature reserve, than many predators would still roam the oceans, our seas would be quieter, and every coastline community would benefit!
