Anthropometry of the face:
Anthropometric reference points:

shape of the face
nelons triad

Anthropometry of the face:
A systematic measurement of the physical properties of the human body, mainly dimensional proportions of the body size and shape
reference points:
Trichion→Glabella = upper third
- Glabella→Sub nasale = middle third
- Sub nasale→Menton = lower third
- Ratio between the medial/distal diameter and high of incisors
- Camper’s plane = connecting the tragus of the eat and Ala nasi
- Frankfurt horizontal plane = connecting the tragus to the ear and
orbitale
- Parallelism between occlusal plane and bipupile line
- Parallelism between occlusal plane and Campers line
- Points on the midline – vertex, glabella, nasion, subnasale, gnathion
- Symetric points to the right and left – eurion, orbitale, zygion and gnathhion
shape of face
points on face?
The Shape of the face:
- Specific landmarks on the face give a pentagon shape
- Harmony of this “Pentagon” – it is the correlation between the
shape of the teeth (incisors) and from the head (face)
Trichion to Glabella (forehead height)
Glabella to Subnasale (upper face height)
Nasion to Menton (lower face height)
nelsons triad
Nelsons Triad:
- Shape of teeth
- Form of face
- Form of dental arch
gold prop
Golden Proportions:
- A proportion that is calculated by dividing the width of each central incisor, lateral
incisor, and the canine by the total width of all 6 maxillary anterior teeth.
To get a percentage then multiplying by 100.
- the ratio is “1.6 : 1 : 1.62” i.e. the “Godlike proportions”
planes
. Frankfurt Horizontal Plane
An anatomical reference plane that runs from the lowest point on the orbit (infraorbital rim) to the upper border of the ear canal (porion).
Used in cephalometrics and prosthodontics to orient the skull or face in a natural, level position.
2. Camper’s Line (Ala-Tragus Line)
An occlusal reference line from the ala of the nose to the tragus of the ear.
Used in prosthodontics to help position the occlusal plane of dentures or restorations.
