ACTION: Pt stand SL and ext back

ACTION: Pt blows into hand to contract core muscles, like pooping
(+): Pain along spine
Indicates: Disc pathology
Prone Instability Test
ACTION: Pt prone bends over edge of table and clinician applies pressure to L spine while pt lifts legs
(+): Pain decreases while legs are up
Indicates: Lumbar instability
Hoover’s test
ACTION: Clinician holds both heels while pt is supine, pt lifts one leg at a time
(+): Should feel downward pressure, if pt lifts non tested leg, no actual pain
Indicates: Malingering, faking pain
Brudzinski’s Test
ACTION: Pt supine and flexed neck while lifting feet off table, like a half v up, clinician stabilize as needed
(+): Unable to keep leg straight
Indicates: Meningeal inflammation
Well crossed SLR
ACTION: PROM ext leg until limit, release and DF then repeat ext

Bechtrew’s Test
ACTION: Pt sits with legs off table, ext one leg then other then both
(+): pain or inability to ext both legs

Side lying Jt Compression and Distraction
ACTION: Pt side lying, clinician pushes straight down on hip. Pt supine, clinican crosses arms and pushes apart hip bones
(+): pain in SI jt
Indicates: SI jt pathology
Milgram Test
ACTION: v sit hold 30 sec
(+): pain or unable to hold
Indicates: Intervertebral pressure, disc pathology
Trunk Ext MMT
Pt Pos: Prone torso off edge of table, legs on table
Stabilize: Holds legs down
Action: Pt performs back ext hold for 2 minutes
Trunk Flex MMT
Pt Pos: SS knees bent
Stabilize: None
Action: Hold lean back/crunch position
Trunk Rotation MMT
Pt Pos: Supine hands behind head
Stabilize: Shoulder and opposite hip
Action: try to touch should to hip
Lat Trunk Flexion MMT
Pt Pos: Side lying
Stabilize: Ankles
Action: Pt performs side crunch
