Atom
The smallest unit of matter that still retains the properties of an element.
Stable Isotope
An isotope that does not change or become affected by the surrounding environment.
Radioactive Isotope
An isotope that decays continuously over time.
Half Life Value
The point at which a substance reaches 50% of its startup volume.
ATP
Adenosine triphosphate, which gives energy to human beings.
Double Bond
A chemical bond formed by the sharing of two pairs of valence electrons (four electrons total).
Single Bond
A chemical bond formed by the sharing of one pair of valence electrons (two electrons total).
Cation
An atom with a positive charge formed when it loses an electron.
Anion
An atom with a negative charge formed when it gains an electron.
