Gustav Kirchhoff
A German physicist who developed the laws explaining the conservation of current and voltage within a circuit.
Kirchhoff's Law
A law which explains the conservation of current and voltage within a circuit.
First Law (Kirchhoff's Current Law)
A law explaining that current in the circuit must be conserved; the current flowing into the node and the current flowing out must be equal.
KCL Summation Formula
∑i=0, representing that for a specific point, all incoming current equals all outgoing current.
Second Law (Kirchhoff's Voltage Law)
A law explaining that voltage in the circuit must be conserved; the voltage supply must be equal to each voltage drop in components involved in the loop.
