A declaration similar to the Dec of Independence that affirmed all people’s natural rights, the people had to force the king to sign it

A short-lived, corrupted government that had control between the radical revolution and Napoleon’s coup
Execution of the King
The decision to execute the king via guillotine was made by the Jacobins
King’s escape attempt (Flight to Varennes)
Louis XVI and his family tried to escape to Varennes, Austria but they were caught and people felt like they were traitors

The indecisive, cowardly king who was attacked by Parisian women and eventually was beheaded by the Jacobins, married to Marie Antoinette
Marie Antoinette
Austrian queen of France and wife of Louis XVI, spent a lot of money, outlived her husband but eventually beheaded
Meeting of the Estates-General
A meeting that Louis XVI called to address debt in which each estate got one vote, regardless of population, which was unfair
Napoleon
Former military commander who led a coup d’etat, overthrew the corrupted Directory, seized power, conquered most of Europe, turned it into an empire with himself as emperor, was defeated in his Russian campaign and again in the Battle of Waterloo, empire fell after ≈10 years
National Assembly (which then became the Legislative Assembly)
The third estate’s convention (did it actually decide anything?) that later became an official convention

A government created when the monarchy was destroyed, ruled by radicals like Robespierre

A system of government in which the common people make decisions through elected representatives

The Republic that Robespierre said would come when all enemies were eradicated, used as an excuse for the Righn of Terror

When 3rd estate people tore down Bastille and took the ammunition
Tennis Court Oath
An oath that 3rd estate people took to create a new constitution, they did it in a tennis court where they were told to wait for a meeting to begin but were actually ambushed in the tennis court after being locked out of the meeting hall
